Estates & Trusts Attorney
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $200k - $300k Yearly
Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Estates & Trusts Attorney with a proven track record of over a
decade in trusts and estates law. This role is ideal for a highly skilled legal professional
who excels at addressing the sophisticated needs of high-net-worth clients, developing
comprehensive estate plans, and oHering tailored tax strategies.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in creating and executing both
standard and complex estate planning documents, such as irrevocable trusts, while
ensuring seamless integration of estate and income tax considerations. The role requires
excellent client management abilities, leadership in client consultations, and consistent
collaboration with stakeholders.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Estate Planning: Draft, review, and execute complex estate planning
documents, with a strong emphasis on integrating income and estate tax
strategies to protect and optimize client wealth.
• High-Net-Worth Clients: Serve the specialized needs of aHluent
individuals, advising them on legal strategies to preserve and transfer
wealth, minimize tax liabilities, and establish trusts that reflect their
financial goals.
• Client Consultation & Management: Lead in-person consultations,
building long-term, trusted relationships with clients through strategic
legal counsel, impeccable attention to detail, and thoughtful planning.
• Legal Strategy Development: Collaborate with clients to customize
estate plans, trusts, and legal frameworks that address their individual
and family needs, with a strong focus on tax eHiciency and asset
protection.
• Tax Law Expertise: Stay updated on evolving California estate and tax
laws, ensuring compliance and proactive planning for clients. Specialize
in irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, and business succession
planning.
Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in trusts and estates
law, with demonstrable expertise in estate planning and tax strategy
development.
• Bar Admission: Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
• Client-Facing Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
with experience in managing relationships with high-net-worth
individuals and their financial advisors.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of California and federal
estate and tax law, including irrevocable trusts, business succession
planning, charitable giving, and other advanced estate planning
instruments.
• Travel: Ability to travel to Los Angeles several times a week for client
meetings and consultations, as required.
• Leadership & Initiative: A self-driven professional capable of managing
multiple complex cases simultaneously, with excellent organizational
and time management skills.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• LL.M. in Taxation or Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and
Probate Law.
• Experience with philanthropic planning and business succession
strategies.
• Expertise in cross-border estate planning and familiarity with
international tax implications for high-net-worth clients with global
assets.
