This senior-level role requires over 10 years of expertise in trusts and estates law, specializing in estate planning for high-net-worth individuals. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney skilled in developing sophisticated estate plans and customized tax strategies for affluent clients.
About the Role:
- The Estates & Trusts Attorney will be responsible for crafting and implementing both standard and complex estate planning documents, including irrevocable trusts and tax-efficient strategies.
- The role emphasizes client relationship management, involving direct consultation and strategic legal planning to safeguard and transfer wealth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estate Planning: Draft, review, and implement advanced estate planning documents, integrating tax strategies to optimize wealth preservation and reduce tax liabilities for clients.
- Client Relations: Serve high-net-worth clients with specialized legal advice to establish trusts, minimize taxes, and meet their unique financial goals.
- Consultation Leadership: Conduct in-person consultations to foster long-term client relationships through personalized legal counsel, precision, and proactive planning.
- Legal Strategy Development: Collaborate with clients on bespoke estate plans and tax-efficient frameworks tailored to their personal and family needs, with a focus on asset protection.
- Tax Law Expertise: Stay current on California and federal tax laws, specializing in irrevocable trusts, charitable trusts, business succession, and philanthropic planning.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in trusts and estates law, with a strong record in estate planning and tax strategy.
- Licensure: Active Bar license in California.
- Client Management Skills: Proven ability to work with high-net-worth individuals, financial advisors, and family offices.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of California and federal tax laws, particularly with business succession planning, charitable giving, and cross-border estate planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- LL.M. in Taxation or Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law.
- Experience with international tax planning for global assets.
- Expertise in business succession and philanthropic planning.
